Barder Rod Co 8′ #5-weight 3-piece 2-top fly rod.

Completed in 2012, this Model No 3965 is in outstanding condition.

£2,800.00

Ordered in 2011 and completed in 2012, this eight foot five weight is a superb all-rounder. I find that absolutely nothing beats split cane in the 7′ – 8′ class. I’ve used rods of this ilk for thirty years and my conviction remains firm.

The rod’s late owner specified mid-tan silk whippings with dark green ultra-fine tippings and dark green ferrule whippings. The result is a very handsome rod indeed. Apart from a little silvering to the bronze coating on some of the guides and the merest suggestion of silvering on a tiny part of the butt cap’s edge, the rod could pass for new at a glance.

Its varnish is flawless still, its reel seat is exceptional and the cork handle is clean and smooth.

An effective, durable, practical rod with handsome good looks and immediate availability.
