A Bishop called Sue?

This rod’s like the Duke of Wellington- it can take on the French and win!

My dear friend Jeff fishes in France with his son James. They stay by a lake with chunky Gallic carp in it. James also likes catfish. He’s undergone special training. A Webley service revolver would do the trick, if he uses the blunt end.

Carbon rods are the wise choice for most, but Jeff likes cane. He’s committed to the stuff. Won’t budge. He commissioned a stepped up version of our Chris Yates Bishop carp rod for his French campaigns. Then he decided he wanted a matched pair. We sold the original singleton for him -this rod. It’s not been fished much and it’s in near mint condition.

Jeff also goes by the name of Polycarp. We’re both members of the Golden Scale Club. Nobody knows what’s in the violin case Jeff takes to meetings but there’s always a faint whiff of cordite on his gloves.

A perfect Kennet Perfection.

Before an angling show at the NEC, this rod’s twin was briefly mine. It was one of a batch of two or three. I travelled up to the show with Chris Yates, who was to be my ace salesman for the duration. On the way there in my van, he trailed an old sock out of the window on an increasingly long line, until it danced on the windscreen of the car behind. The line was paid out from his famous old reel, the ‘Leney Arial.’ Wild times.

On the Saturday, I needed the loo and asked Chris to mind the stand. When I got back, he was pleased to tell me that he’d sold the Kennet Perfection we’d displayed. He was a bit surprised by my muted reaction. I’d made the rod for myself and the plan was to use it for display only. I’d forgotten to tell Chris.

Another rod in the batch was made for a customer who never got round to fishing with it. This is that rod. It’s in mint condition and remains unused.

A pair of beautiful float tubes.

If this little lot isn’t enough, we’ve got two brace of superb Chris Yates Barbel rods, a magnificent Bogdan salmon reel and a new Kingpin Aero Zephyr centrepin reel for you to contemplate. Please visit our website. You never know what might turn up.

With best wishes from Edward Barder & Colin Whitehouse.
