Allcock Six Spoke Coxon Aerial 3½”

This beautiful reel is in fantastic near mint condition. Its Xylonite handles and solid nickel sliver line pins suggest that it was made in the mid-to-late 1920s. Production of this model ran from 1905 to 1928.

Not only is it in tremendous condition, it also has an original and extremely rare factory fitted nickel silver Bickerdyke line guard.

Condition report.

The mahogany back retains its original age-patinated French polish finish. It is true and sound.

The hand fettled sand cast star back is in original condition with some patina and the foot is straight and unaltered.

The spool’s ebonite flanges are in perfect order.  The solid nickel silver line pins are tight and straight. The clean Xylonite handles have minimal crazing. They are straight and turn freely.

The spool spins sweetly and absolutely truly with no play in the spindle/bush and the grub screw that controls end float turns freely. The nickel sliver spokes are clean and perfectly straight. The tension adjuster and spool release work perfectly.

The spool’s width between flanges is ⅞”

The calliper check is crisp and easily operated via its finely knurled and untarnished brass button (located lower left on the reel’s back).

Another Coxon that will bring joy each time you see it and, if properly maintained, it’ll be a pleasure to fish with for another century.
