We made 13 of these rods to celebrate 25 years of the Barder Rod Co. It’s in unused mint condition. Its varnish is fully cured and mature. It casts with exceptional accuracy, grace and smoothness. It’s simply a really lovely fishing rod.
In order to demonstrate our rod making techniques we incorporated a number of special materials in the building of these rods. They were three years in the planning stage -I’m not known for rushing things, and to this day I fish happily with the prototype.
Each rod was issued with an individually numbered and signed hand bound booklet numbered and signed by Edward Barder and Colin Whitehouse.
The reel seat and handle metalwork are finely knurled titanium. The butt rings are highly figured Brazilian agate in nickel sliver mounts. The rods have perfectly graduated intermediate whippings of the finest silk imaginable. They are the only rods in this format that we’ve made at 8’3″ and each rod is numbered.
I know that you are sensitive to the vulgarities of investment potential and heirloom quality but even so, this is a superb fishing rod with plenty of both.
