CTS of New Zealand are the masters of fibreglass blank making. This is not the vague soggy stuff, but the smooth, strong, precise kind -or we wouldn’t be building rods with it.
This rod is slender, light and robust. It casts remarkably precisely, its handling is fluid and graceful. It looks gorgeous and you can almost smell the basil fields of Liguria after a summer shower as you draw it from its tube.
The blank is built from CTS’s peerless unidirectional S-glass, finished in a dull gloss translucent basil pesto colour.
The Flor grade handle is made from hand-cut ½” corks. The reel seat has a highly figured olive wood spacer with blued nickel silver butt cap, sliding band, grip check and shoulder collar.
Guides and tip-top are Snake Brand Universal with a black nickel finish over hard chrome. The butt ring is nickel silver with a beautiful Brazilian agate centre.
Silks are perfectly transparent varnish impregnated Pearsall’s Gossamer with ultra-fine dark green tippings. The joints have hand turned olive wood and cork stoppers.
The rod comes in a tailor made bag and a superb Barder Rod Co aluminium tube.
