Commissioned in 2006 and completed in 2007, this lightweight example of our sought-after model № 2964 is in exceptional condition.
Very light, accurate and practical, this rod, which I’ve tested extensively and rather covetously on the stream out the back, is an absolute joy to cast. It roll casts like a dream too.
If you are looking for a classic all round rod for subtle presentations, this eight footer will certainly leave you with a smile on your face and no fatigue at the end of the day.
It has been used very little and judging by its fantastic condition it’s been very well cared for. I recommend it without hesitation as one of our finest models.
Specification.
Flame tempered Tonkin bamboo, split by hand in to strips that were straightened and their nodes pressed before precision tapering to our usual +/- one thousandth of an inch tolerance. The sections are perfect and arrow straight. The butt section has an elegant swell above the handle.
The ferrules are Super-Z pattern nickel silver of our own make, fitted with a cork & olive wood stopper.
The reel seat has a highly figured olive wood spacer and blued nickel silver fittings. The Flor grade cork handle is a comfortable cigar shape.
Guides are bronzed (by me, using a stove enameling technique akin to hook bronzing) hard chrome plated stainless steel with matching butt ring and tip rings.
Whippings are transparent varnish impregnated Pearsall’s silk, with ultra-fine tan tippings. The hand applied marine grade varnish finish is flawless.
The rod comes in its tailor made silk bag and its made to measure hand stitched English bridle leather case.
To be used with a DT #4 fly line such as the Scientific Anglers Mastery Double Taper loaded onto a Hardy LRH Lightweight or similar reel.
