Barder Rod Co 8′ #4-weight 2-piece split cane fly rod c2006
Our ever popular Model № 2964 with two identical tips & its hand stitched bridle leather case. In exceptional lightly used condition.
£2,500.00
This is a rod for smaller streams where a short rod would be a hindrance. It will fish small floating flies, nymphs and wet flies with great finesse. Subtle presentations to wary wild trout and grayling are its forte. At only 4½ ounces it is very light and comfortable in the hand, with a smooth action, no bounciness and linear tracking during casting. You fix your sights on the spot where you want your fly to land and the rod will send it there. It is particularly well suited to fly lines with longer front tapers intended for shy fish.
There is only a hint silvering inside the hand-bronzed snake guides and on the edge of the butt cap. It is in otherwise exceptional condition. It has been correctly stored and maintained. It is in very fine (at least 95% of new) condition in every respect. It is finished in our standard fly rod livery.
The highly figured olive wood reel seat has blued nickel silver metalwork, and the blued nickel silver Swiss pattern ferrule has an olive wood stopper to match. The guides are hand bronzed hard chromed stainless steel throughout.
The rod has two identical tips, numbered 1 and 2. It comes in its silk bag and aluminium lined hand stitched bridle leather case.
The rod has had very light and occasional use. Commissioned in September 2005, we completed it in December 2006. There is now a 24-30 month lead time for this model, currently priced at £3,300, so this is a rare opportunity to obtain an exceptional example at an attractive price for immediate delivery or collection.
