Our most popular Avon rod since its conception in 1991/1992, we always intended the Merlin to be the best modern interpretation of the classic Avon rod and this is a superbly elegant example, with every possible refinement present.
It is whipped throughout with varnish-impregnated transparent Perrivale shade 684 dark green silk with matching intermediate whippings.
The rings are superb quality hard chrome plated stand-offs, with matching ‘Amberfin’ butt and tip rings with clear centres. The hook keeper ring is secured with our hand forged nickel silver strap.
The 24” flor grade cork handle has a slightly elongated ‘onion’ shaped top and aircraft grade aluminium fittings throughout.The snug fitting nickel silver ferrule has a very attractive and unusual Laburnum wood and cork stopper.
This rod has a unique made to measure Barder Rod Co aluminium case.
Suitable for 4 – 6 pounds breaking strain reel lines and casting weights up to 1 oz.
