This is a relatively recent and particularly fine example of the Chris Yates Bishop carp rod. They come up for sale very infrequently, although we have made plenty of them. Owners don’t part with them, which is the best possible endorsement.
Its blank is made from flame tempered hand-split Tonkin bamboo, straightened and prepared by hand. It is precision built to a tolerance of +/- one thousandth of an inch.
It is whipped in our classic translucent bottle green Pearsall’s silk, with red tippings to the main whippings, and matching Pearsall’s ‘gossamer’ silk intermediate whippings.
The butt and tip rings are classic Amberfin. The bridge rings are hard chrome plated stainless steel. The hook keeper ring is secured with our hand forged nickel silver strap.
The 26” long Flor grade cork handle has an elegant ‘onion’ shaped top and finely knurled nickel silver fittings throughout.
The snug-fitting nickel silver ferrule has a hand turned Olive wood and cork stopper.
