A beautiful reel in the classic Vom Hofe style. The Baby Trout is suitable for lines up to #4-weight. The diameter is 2⅝” and the spool width is ⅞”. The reel weighs 5.8 oz.
Dr Hermann trained as a medical doctor and I understand that he turned his considerable abilities to the artisanal manufacture of classically styled fly reels. They are held in very high esteem by collectors and anglers. Production was limited and this is the 50th of the 113 Baby trout models made.
The side plates are black anodised. The other parts of the reel are natural aluminium. The check is neutral, with a very nice amount of tension. The reel can be used left or right hand wind with no need for adjustment.
The black handle is mounted on a counterbalanced serpentine bar and the oil port on the reel’s back plate has a finely knurled cover. The bridge on which the pierced foot is mounted is stamped PH050.
