LAW fly tying vice by Lawrence Waldron.

The world's best vice. In fabulous condition, with accessories.

£3,650.00

You like fly tying. You’d like doing so even more if you acquire a genuine LAW vice. Its design is unique, original, brilliant. The LAW vice enables you to secure any hook you wish, tie any fly you like, with no impediment. It’s ergonomically perfect. No other vice is as well made or durable. You’ll only buy one once but it’ll last for generations. In fact, I can’t see why a LAW vice shouldn’t be a forever vice.

If Lawrence Waldron’s vice wasn’t so fantastic, it wouldn’t have the status it enjoys and there wouldn’t be as many attempts at emulating its design.

This is the real thing.

Hand built when time allowed, these vices weren’t made in large quantities by any means. During their production period, many of the world’s leading tyers acquired LAW vices and they became established as the best.

They have not been available for over a decade and they come up for sale very rarely. This immaculate example is one of the tidiest I have handled.

It’s in near mint condition and comes with a nice selection of accessories, all designed and made by Lawrence Waldron. They are:

The pedestal base.

The bead tray.

The materials clip.

The articulated bobbin holder.

The Allen key.

Owner’s pamphlet containing advice on use, care & maintenance.

The accompanying illustrations can be expanded so that you can examine the vice in minute detail.

Specification:

The jaws are made from 01 tool steel hardened and tempered by hand. They will accommodate hooks from size 30 to 10/0. They are opened and closed with ease and precision via a durable star wheel made from an aluminium-bronze alloy, which is superior to brass for this purpose.

The vice is adjustable in every direction and rotates through its Delrin body.

The ample pedestal base enables the tyer to use the vice wherever a flat surface is to be found. It has a central well for materials. The underside of the base has a non-slip suede covering.

Condition report: The vice is in 99% mint condition and spotlessly clean. The hole in the bead tray through which the stem passes is a little enlarged but the tray itself is clean and fully functional. I have checked the vice over very thoroughly and it has been freshly lubricated as per the maker’s instructions.
