This is a particularly nice and well appointed LAW vice. I have examined it in minute detail. The jaws are unmarked and perfect, all moving parts are in perfect condition, there is no wear and cosmetically, it is in exceptional+ condition.
With its very sturdy L-shaped stem extension and bead tray, one may tie on this vice with the greatest of comfort and convenience. In my view, it has the ideal complement of really useful, practical accessories.
The last batch of these vices was issued in 2014-15. Ten years on, they are increasingly sought after and scarce.
Specification.
The jaws are made from CR12 tool steel hardened to Rockwell RC58. They will accommodate hooks from size 30 to 10/0. They are opened and closed with ease and precision via a brass star wheel.
The vice is adjustable in every direction and rotates within a Delrin body.
The ample, stable C-clamp will secure the vice to tables and desks with even the shallowest of lips.
The stainless steel stem has a screw in extension and an L-shaped stem too, as favoured by well known angler, fly tyer and writer Paul Proctor.
It has an adjustable articulated LAW bobbin cradle.
It has a stem-mounted non-slip bead tray, adjustable for position and height, to keep hooks etc within easy reach.
It has an Allen key that adjusts all of the vice’s Allen screws.
It has a material clip.
It has its Lawrence Waldron owner’s manual.
This is widely acknowledged to be the best fly tying vice ever made and as production ceased some years ago, this represents a rare opportunity to obtain a LAW vice in exceptional condition.
