These vices have long been out of production and they were made in small numbers. Widely regarded as the best vices ever made and used by many of the greats of contemporary fly tying, they are sought after and very scarce.
Specification.
The jaws are made from CR12 tool steel hardened to Rockwell RC58. They will accommodate hooks from size 30 to 10/0. They are opened and closed with ease and precision via a brass star wheel.
The vice is adjustable in every direction and rotates through its Delrin body.
The ample, stable G-clamp will secure the vice to tables and desks with even the shallowest of lips.
The stainless steel stem has a screw in extension.
It has an adjustable articulated LAW bobbin cradle
It has its unique LAW white sight screen/mirror mounted on a fully adjustable L-shaped limb.
It has its Allen key that adjusts all of the vice’s Allen screws.
It has its LAW material clip
Condition report: Apart from some light annular impressions on the stem where the C-clamp has secured it (these impressions are completely normal and ubiquitous), this vice is unmarked, mint and clean as a whistle. Everything is firm, crisp and exact. You’d expect nothing less from a vice designed and made by Lawrence Waldron. I understand that this vice has been displayed as part of a collection, but not used.
