Pictures -my pictures anyway- can’t do Paul Cook’s pen & ink drawings justice. Knowing of my obsession for barbel and barbel fishing, Paul decorated this case with portraits of the fish, river gravel, weeds and a fabulous kingfisher.
I used to supply Paul with Tonkin bamboo off-cuts for his float case production and in return, he very generously gave me two of these works of art. I have never used them. I’m quite old. I don’t have much space in my modest gaff. It’s time for these float cases to be enjoyed by someone who will appreciate them as much as I have.
This case takes floats up to 9½” long. Its lid is made from figured Olive wood. It has an aluminium thread that screws into the brass collar of the case.
Paul Cook’s Indian ink inscription is: Hand Made and Decorated by for E. Barder by Paul Cook. 01
Unique, beautiful and not to me missed if you’re a lover of hand made floats and float cases.
