Ordered on the 8th of August 2005, completed in 2006, this lovely MK IV has seen little if any use.
There is no doubt among anglers who have used cane rods for hunting carp that a proper MK IV is the best rod of all time for free lining, fishing with lighter running leads and float fishing. This was what Richard Walker had in mind and he proved his design in a pretty convincing way on the night of September the 13th, 1952.
This example was built precisely to Richard Walker’s tapers. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The only evidence of handling is some very slight silvering of the bluing on the leading edge of the male ferrule.
Currently, a MK IV with nickel silver handle fittings made by us is priced at £2,500 and there’s a long wait. This rod is available now and it’s very attractively priced. It’s not all doom and gloom. The Barder Rod Co is here to put some affordable high class tackle your way!
