Not only was this kettle bought by a member of the Golden Scale Club, he was also the only member of the Golden Scale. Work than one out. I’m not sure he has yet. Also, he was the Hon. Treasurer of the Grayling Society. What a guy!
When he bought the kettle in Ireland, he asked the supplier about the wooden case. ‘What’s it made from?’
‘Tree.’ So my friend thought he’d heard. ‘I know it’s made from a tree, but what species?’
‘Tree ply’ Replied the bemused Kettle maker. Accents are such fun.
So is a Kelly Kettle, but when you pack up after a day’s fishing, it’ll do terrible things to your car’s boot. When you get home, tired and dreading the unloading of your kit, you’ll find that the Kelly has puked up a mess of water and smelly, sooty ash, even though you thought you’d drained it and cleaned out its base.
Not any more! This Kelly Kettle comes in a tremendous case made from three ply. Brass corners, brass catch for the lid, a comfortable handle. Priceless. Well, not priceless, but very good value.
The Kelly Kettle is quite easy to buy these days, but you probably won’t find one in its original wooden case, unless you shop here!
Used once or twice, perhaps. Matches supplied.
