The Bernard Venables Aerial.

Richard Carter of Traditional Angling Products made these reels. Had Bernard lived to be older than God, Richard might have made one hundred of them. Bernard was nothing if not optimistic. He reached 94 and Richard made 43 Venables Aerials. This one, No 7, comes with a set of vanishingly rare Richard Carter floats, a picture of Richard & Bernard with their reel and a leather clam shell case. Its glass fronted wooden case has the reel’s certificate on the back. It’s stunning. Truly, among the finest Aerials of all time.

Thirty two Colin Whitehouse Floats.

Colin’s legendary floats come up for sale in fits and starts. This is a super assortment- tempted to say milk and plain with soft centres, but that would be silly, even for me.

Colin was the first person to offer hand made floats on a commercial scale since the Edwardian era, I should think. This collection of 32 floats is available in its entirety for a very digestible price, or in sets.

Barder Rod Co 8′ #4-weight 3-piece fly rod.

This is our most popular model. In exceptionally good, very lightly used condition, it would pass as mint, un-used, to the casual observer. This is a very lovely and practical rod. The current lead time is about two and a half years. It’s very attractively priced and available now.

We’re particularly well stocked with fine tackle at the moment. Christmas is less than six weeks away. I know. Terrifying. Still, you can have at least one fancy present, surely?

Here’s a fantasy tackle list for Father Christmas: Two Bogdan light salmon reels, a Chris Yates Barbus Maximus (3 to choose from), Chris Lythe floats, Paul Cook floats, a Richard Walker MK IV and a leather float case.

Over the coming weeks, we will have many more items of irresistible fishing tackle for the connoisseur.
Parky out. Stay warm and keep an eye on our website.

With best wishes from Edward Barder & Colin Whitehouse
