Basmati rice & Tizer?

Oh Fred, what on earth are you up to?

Remember the popular Fred series of birthday cards? Of course you do. My pal Ad Ward drew this post-Fredist interpretation years ago. Made an absolute fortune from the publishing rights. Anyway, on to fishing rods.

This is what a 2014 Bishop looks like.

A bit young for an Anglican but the perfect age for a Chris Yates carp rod in mint condition. Please click on the picture for more information.

Prefer not to cast basmati-Tizer boilies? Here’s a fly rod.

Here is a delicious eight footer from the fabled 2001 vintage. Please click on the picture for more information.

Look, it’s no secret that Fred’s basmati rice-Tizer boilies are probably the best carp bait ever devised.

You’re highly likely to hook a lot of very large carp if you use Fred’s baits so you’re going to need a pair of strong rods. I recommend this fabulous pair of Stepped Up Richard Walker MK IVs. Please click on the picture for more information.

Eschew the the boilie do you? Bit more refined? I’ll say you are.

This is the number 53 Merlin Avon rod. It’s vintage Krug to the carp angler’s Tizer. Great blokes, carp anglers. No offence. Please click on the picture for more information.

What about Spam soaked in Irn-Bru?

The Chris Yates ‘Barbus Maximus’ MK II.

My family are in Edinburgh for the Fringe this week. The cabbies up there are fuelled by Irn-Bru. I used to cook spam in curry powder and the barbel loved it. Why not soak it in Scotland’s national drink? Because the Scotts don’t have barbel, that’s why not!

This is precisely the kind of behaviour that we see too much of. I blame fizzy drinks.

Enjoy the weather. Lay off the Tizer and try a Sherry Spinner.

Best wishes from Edward & Colin.
